Any good hair gel recommendations that wont leave hair crusty?

You know as an something that just help your hair get into place but then doesn't leave it too spiky, crusty, or hard. I am looking for something that will hold up a faux-hawk.Any good hair gel recommendations that wont leave hair crusty?
Back in the day, I knew punks who used Crisco. Swear to god. It's nasty, but it's pliable and it works.





I think what you might look into is a Crisco-like substance, but one specifically for hair (please! for your own sake!). There are waxes and pomades that work a treat with sculpted styles. Bed Head makes some good ones. They are available at your average drug store, and as hair products go, aren't hideously expensive.
