What is the correct method of using a hair-gel?

And also how to set one's hair as desired.What is the correct method of using a hair-gel?
I was taught to put a Small amount your hand, rub your hands together to spread it out. Now work it through your hair and if your wold like to piece any bits out, us your fingers. I like to apply it to dry hair for the best effect otherwise i find it goes a bit strawy on wet hair,once it has dried.What is the correct method of using a hair-gel?
use it on wet hair n put on any hair style u want.
