Whats the difference between hair gel and hair wax?

I've been using 'wet look styling hair gel' all my life, and wanted to know whats the difference between that and hair wax? I've never used wax, and was thinking about buying some products.

obviously get wax! cuz gel, if u use it in like a certain way, it will make ur hair look like greasy and nasty. but wax, it gives better and more flexible hold without the shine. get like gatsby or sebastians or something.
